File import works on every plan, including Starter. It's the quickest way to get your history into SniperJournal, and the only way if you're not on Pro.
Export a report from your platform, drop it on the Import page, check the preview, done. Importing the same file twice is safe — trades you already have are recognised and skipped, so you can re-import a fresh statement every week and only the new trades are added.
Open Accounts & import in the app (the Import button at the top of any screen takes you there).
MetaTrader 4
- In MT4 open the Terminal panel (Ctrl+T) → Account History tab.
- Right-click in the list → All History (otherwise you only get the last few days).
- Right-click again → Save as Detailed Report. Save the
.htmfile. - In SniperJournal, drop the
.htmfile onto Drop a file here.
"Save as Report" (without Detailed) does not contain the data SniperJournal needs — use Detailed.
MetaTrader 5
- In MT5 open the Toolbox (Ctrl+T) → History tab.
- Right-click → set the period (choose All history for your first import).
- Make sure you're in the Positions view (right-click → Positions), not Orders or Deals.
- Right-click → Report → HTML. Save the file.
- Drop the
.htmlfile onto the Import page.
MT5's CSV export of the History tab also works.
TradeLocker
- In TradeLocker open the History panel (or Positions for closed positions).
- Click the export/download icon → CSV.
- Drop the
.csvon the Import page. Columns are detected by name.
Any other broker or prop firm
Export closed trades as a CSV. SniperJournal looks for these columns (names can vary — they're matched loosely):
- symbol
- side (buy/sell)
- size / lots / quantity
- open time and close time
- open price and close price
- profit / P&L
Commission, swap, stop loss and take profit are picked up when present. If the file has a header row and those columns, it will import. JSON backups exported from SniperJournal (Settings → Your data → Export backup (JSON)) import too.
The preview
Before anything is saved you see a preview: how many trades were found, how many are new, and how many you already have. Pick the Account for this file (type a new name to create one, or choose an existing account) and click Import N trades. Then you're taken to the Dashboard with your real numbers in it.
If you were looking at sample data, the sample is replaced by your trades.
Limits
- Starter stores up to 100 trades (across all imports). Anything past 100 is skipped — the preview tells you. Regular and Pro are unlimited.
- Starter has 1 account, Regular 2, Pro unlimited. "Account" here means a bucket like FTMO 100k or IC Markets live, so put every statement from the same broker account into the same account name.
"Couldn't read that file" / "No closed trades found"
- MT4: you saved a plain Report instead of a Detailed Report, or the history period was empty. Do All History, then Save as Detailed Report.
- MT5: the report was made from the Orders or Deals view. Switch to Positions and export again.
- CSV: the header row is missing or the columns are named in a way SniperJournal doesn't recognise. Open it in a spreadsheet, rename the headers to the names above, save as CSV, try again.
- The file is a PDF or screenshot. Only
.htm,.html,.csv,.txt,.tsvand.jsoncan be read.
